Lei is interested in studying the perception and signaling machinery of danger cues in plant-insect interactions. Supported by the MSCA fellowship, his research in Bern focuses on the perception and signaling of plant volatile cues in maize. He also has a long-lasting interest in understanding the role of small signaling peptides in plant defense, which he started working on during his PhD in the Center for Plant Molecular Biology (ZMBP) at Tuebingen, Germany. In the long run, he aims to understand how these different pathways work independently and in an integrated network.
